How to choose
Questions that decide the scanner
Our barcode scanner buying guide explains standard-range, high-density, extended-range and DPM versions side by side.
How far away are the codes?
Standard-range scanners read at arm's length; extended-range models such as the Granit XP 1990iXLR / 1991iXLR and the DS3600-XR read labels on high racks. Each product page lists the maker's reading distances.
Printed labels or marks on the part?
Printed labels suit standard models. Dot peen, laser etch and similar marks need a DPM scanner such as the Newland NVH220 Lophius AI or the Zebra DS3608 DP / DPA.
Corded or cordless?
Corded scanners need no charging; cordless models suit pickers and forklift drivers who move away from a workstation.
How rough and cold is the site?
Compare the sealing, drop rating and operating temperature on the product pages against your floor, dock or cold store.
Price
How much does an industrial barcode scanner cost in India?

Still using an older rugged scanner?
These rugged scanners are no longer sold by their makers; their pages stay for existing users. Each row shows the maker's status and the model it names to replace it.

Zebra LS3408 ER 1D
The LS3408-ER handheld wired scanner captures 1D barcodes even when labels are at varying distances. It reads labels as far away as 45 feet and as close as .25 inches, in the warehouse or manufacturing plant.
Zebra rated the LS3578-ER rugged scanner to scan items from as close as .25 inches /.64cm to as far away as 45 feet /13.7 m, and to switch quickly from reading barcodes on inventory to capturing smaller symbologies.
Honeywell optimized the Granit 1910i, the wired model of the pair, for demanding, arm's length scanning of 1D and 2D barcodes, with an IP65 rating for a harsh working environment.
The Granit 1911i is the wireless model of Honeywell's Granit 1910i/1911i pair, optimized for demanding, arm's length scanning of 1D and 2D barcodes, with an IP65 rating for a harsh working environment.
The direct part marks used in industries such as automotive, pharmaceutical, defense and aerospace are hard for many scanners to read. Part of the durable Granit family, Honeywell says the Granit 1920i scanner "captures virtually any direct part mark with ease", along with standard barcodes on printed labels.
Honeywell rated the Granit 1980i, the wired model of the pair, to read 1D and 2D barcodes from 15 cm (6 in) to 16 m (52 ft), with technologies Honeywell described as taking the guesswork out of scanning at extended ranges, and an IP65 rating for harsh environments.
The Granit 1981i is the wireless model of Honeywell's Granit 1980i/1981i pair, rated to read 1D and 2D barcodes from 15 cm (6 in) to 16 m (52 ft), with an IP65 rating for harsh environments.
