Godex ZX400i+ series 4-inch industrial label printer with colour screen

Why the ZX420i+ / ZX430i+

Industrial labels where bench space is short

Godex sells the ZX420i+ and ZX430i+ as its ZX400i+ series. The two models differ only in print resolution: the ZX420i+ prints at 203 dpi and the ZX430i+ at 300 dpi. Both have a die-cast print mechanism, a colour LCD, Ethernet, serial and USB connections, and 128 MB each of flash memory and SDRAM.

Industrial mechanism, small footprint

The print mechanism is die-cast metal, built for long runs of labels. The printer stands 403 mm long and 260 mm wide, so it fits a packing bench or a shelf beside a line where a larger industrial printer would not.

Takes desktop label rolls too

The die-cast roll holder takes rolls on a 1-inch (25.4 mm) core, up to 127 mm across. Sites moving up from a desktop printer can keep using the labels they already buy, then change to larger rolls when it suits them.

8-inch rolls and 450 m ribbons

Label rolls up to 203.2 mm (8 in) across on a 3-inch core, or 152.4 mm on a 1.5-inch core. Ribbons are wax, wax/resin or resin, up to 450 m long on a 1-inch core, so roll and ribbon changes are less frequent.

Colour LCD and Ethernet as standard

The "i" models add a colour TFT screen with navigation buttons, an RS-232 serial port and 10/100 Ethernet to the USB 2.0 and USB host ports. Settings such as the IP address can be changed from the front panel.

Four printer languages

EZPL, GEPL, GZPL and GDPL, switched automatically by the printer. Godex's GoLabel II design software works with EZPL; GoUtility monitors printer status and deploys data to many printers at once.

Options fitted when you need them

A cutter module, label dispenser, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth combo module and a parallel port adaptor are dealer-install options, and Godex lists an external label rewinder.

Used in

  • Retail (price tags, content and postage labels)
  • Warehousing (shelf, product and pallet labels)
  • Manufacturing (product and work-in-process labels)
  • E-commerce and courier
  • Shipping & receiving
  • Packaged-goods units (MRP and net-quantity labels)

For buyers in India

Using the ZX420i+ / ZX430i+ in India

These are the points buyers in India ask us about the ZX420i+ / ZX430i+. Mention the ones that apply to you when you request a quote.

Courier labels in about a second each

The ZX420i+ prints near 3,500 courier labels an hour of print time, the ZX430i+ near 2,900. A 4 × 6 inch shipping label is 101.6 mm wide, inside the 108 mm print width of the ZX420i+ and 105.7 mm of the ZX430i+. With a 3 mm gap each label uses 155.4 mm of media: about 1.0 s at 6 ips (152 mm/s) and 1.2 s at 5 ips (127 mm/s), counting print time alone. One 450 m ribbon covers about 2,900 such labels. An 8-inch roll on a 3-inch core holds about 111 m even of the thickest media Godex allows (0.25 mm), some 717 labels; thinner stock gives more.

Net-quantity figures at 8 or 12 dots/mm

The 203 dpi ZX420i+ prints 8 dots/mm and the 300 dpi ZX430i+ 12, so the ZX430i+ draws the smallest figures with cleaner edges. Ask us to set up the MRP, net-quantity and date lines for your retail packs and print test labels on your roll.

Prints EAN-13 for 890 numbers and API QR

Both models print EAN-13 for the 890 product numbers GS1 India issues and the QR used on bulk-drug (API) labels. Godex lists EAN-13, EAN 128, ITF 14, GS1 DataBar and GS1 Composite among the barcodes, and QR, Micro QR, Data Matrix and DotCode among the 2D codes.

Keep it off hot docks; stabilise swinging mains

Place the printer in a ventilated or cooled room, away from open loading doors, which can let a dispatch area pass its limit in summer. Godex rates it for 5 °C to 40 °C at 20-85% humidity, non-condensing. The auto-switching supply takes AC 100-240 V, 50-60 Hz, which covers 230 V and 240 V mains; use a stabiliser or UPS where the voltage swings.

Questions buyers ask

ZX420i+ / ZX430i+ FAQ

What is the price of the Godex ZX420i+ / ZX430i+ in India?

The ZX420i+ / ZX430i+ price depends on the resolution you choose (203 or 300 dpi), the options you add and the quantity. We can quote the labels and ribbon with it. Ask our team for today's competitive price: share your requirement and budget, and we will help you choose the right configuration and send a written quotation with current pricing and delivery time.

ZX420i+ or ZX430i+: which one?

Choose by label detail. The ZX420i+ prints at 203 dpi and up to 6 ips (152 mm/s), which suits shipping, carton and shelf labels. The ZX430i+ prints at 300 dpi and up to 5 ips (127 mm/s), for small text, MRP blocks and small 2D codes. Everything else, from media to ports, is the same. Send your smallest barcode and font size with the quote request.

What does the "i" add over the ZX420+?

Godex makes the ZX420+ and ZX430+ without the "i": they have USB and USB host only, and buttons with LEDs instead of a screen. The ZX420i+ and ZX430i+ add a colour TFT LCD with navigation buttons, an RS-232 serial port and 10/100 Ethernet. Choose the "i" model when the printer is shared on a network or set up from the front panel.

Can it use the label rolls from our desktop printer?

Usually, yes. The roll holder takes a 1-inch (25.4 mm) core with rolls up to 127 mm across, a 1.5-inch core up to 152.4 mm and a 3-inch core up to 203.2 mm (8 in). Labels can be 20 to 118 mm wide and 0.06 to 0.25 mm thick. Send your current label size and core with the quote request and we will confirm.

Can we add Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or a cutter later?

Yes. Godex lists the cutter module, label dispenser, parallel port adaptor and the Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth BLE 5.0 combo module as dealer-install options. Godex's manual notes that the Wi-Fi module works through the printer's LAN port, so the module must be removed to use wired Ethernet. Plan for one or the other. Allmark quotes Godex printers together with labels and ribbons and invoices with GST. Send the model, label size, monthly volume and delivery city with the quote request, and say whether you need 203 or 300 dpi and which options, so the quotation lists everything together.

Which ribbons does it take?

Wax, wax/resin or resin ribbons, 30 to 110 mm wide and up to 450 m long on a 1-inch core. Wax suits paper labels; wax/resin and resin suit synthetic labels and prints that must resist rubbing, heat or chemicals. Direct thermal labels need no ribbon. Tell us the label material when you ask for a quote and we will match the ribbon.

ZX420i+ or ZX1200i+?

The ZX1200i+ series is faster, up to 10 ips at 203 dpi, offers a 600 dpi model, a touch screen and 256 MB each of flash and SDRAM, and weighs 13.6 kg. The ZX420i+ is smaller (403 × 260 mm footprint, 10.8 kg) and reaches 6 ips. For a few thousand labels a shift with limited space, the ZX420i+ is usually enough.

Can Allmark install the ZX420i+ / ZX430i+ and connect it to our software?

Yes. We install the ZX420i+ / ZX430i+ at your site, connect it so your ERP, warehouse or billing software prints to it (our own warehouse management system included) and train the people who use it. Tell us the software when you ask for a quote, and we include the setup in the quotation.
